Volunteers are the heart of our organization and DVS has a number of different ways you can help.
If you are interested in helping clients directly you will need to take our 30 hour volunteer training class. Held each fall and spring, these classes cover all aspects of domestic violence. Once you complete the training you are able to work directly with clients and their children. You can help with legal advocacy, help with the children, cooking, answering the 24 hour hotline and more. Some additional training will be required for some positions.
If you are interested in a more casual way to volunteer consider helping with our Special Events or at our New & Again Thrift Shoppe. The 30 hour volunteer training is not required for these positions.
We hold 3 Special Events throughout the year including our annual Chocolate Lovers’ Gala Auction in March, our Handbag Auction and Luncheon in June and our Hope within Luncheon in the fall. There are numerous positions available including check-in and checkout, computer data entry, procurement, decorations, setup and more! We also always have need for help in our service center office.
The New & Again Thrift Shoppe is located at 3116 Rucker Ave. in downtown Everett. Our clients shop free of charge for essential items such as jeans, shoes, coats, kids clothing and more. All items are also for sale to the public. Volunteer positions include sorting and pricing donations, cash register, sorting, ironing, picking up donations and more.
